Otter Trail was formed in 1992 in New York City under the leadership of lead singer Alexander Santos. This group has made few changes since its beginning.

Our group consists of members of the Coushatta, Kiowa, Comanche, Arawak, Osage, Sac and Fox, Alabama-Coushatta, Delaware, and Choctaw tribes. Our members are Alexander Santos, Davie Johnson, Delbert Johnson, Herbert Johnson Jr, Lance Tahchawwickah, Travis Brown, Hamilton Tonekeamha, Sonny Blackbear,and Stephan Blackbear. Also, we would like to acknowledge Chad Tachawwickah and Neka Logan for their assistance. Thanks Neka for your keen sticks.

Our leading ladies are Deloris Johnson, Retha Johnson, Heather Johnson, and Camille "Bubbles" Johnson. Special thanks to Georgia Noble, Julia Tiger, Sandy Nevaquaya, and Charlotte McCurtain for your beautiful voices.


Most of the songs on our albums have been made by various members of our group as well as songs given to us by friends who have "sat in" with us a time or two. We thank you for all your talents guys.

Our albums on the market include "Otter Trail-Family Songs" released in 1992 which earned us a Nammy nomination for best album, powwow compilation. "Otter Trail-New Chapter" released in 2000, "Otter Trail-Live at Tulsa" which was released in 2002. Our newest album in the works is entitled "Otter Trail-To the Limit" which will be released in the summer of 2003.

We would like to acknowledge our many friends we have made throughout the years along the powwow trail. A big shout out to our southern singing brothers- the Cozad Family Singers, Sizzortail, Yellowhammer, Youngbird, Southern Boys, Eagle Claw, and Bear Claw, Keep singing boys!

We have been fortunate to have been invited to numerous powwows and celebrations throughout the years. We thank the organizations of Gathering of Nations, Shakopee Mdewkantan Sioux, United Tribes International, Schemitzun, IICOT, San Carlos Apache, Mississippi Choctaw Veterans Powwow, Tunica-Biloxi, Grand Celebration of the Coushatta Tribes, Southern Ute Fair and Powwow, Cherokee 4th of July Celebration, and Alabama-Coushatta Nation. We thank you for your invitations, the hospitality, and the kindness bestowed upon us.

We would also like to give a special recognition to Hank Tomahsah; thank you Uncle, for your kind words and encouragement. To Larry Cozad for your knowledge, wisdom, and guidence you have given to our group. We thank you so very much!
