World War II : The Holocaust

Holocaust Slaughter

The Holocaust began with the German invasion of Poland. By that time-September 1939-two-thirds of the Jews of Germany and Austria had been persecuted and driven into Excile. In 1939 there were 3.3 in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Romania. In Poland, special SS units roamed behind the lines, rounding up Jews in the villages and cities, herding them to the outskirts of town, forcing them to dig mass graves, and then excecuting them by machine-gun fire-old men, women, children, by the hundreds, sometimes by the thousands. It was a slaughter such as the world had never seen.

Between 1939 and 1945, uncountable millions of wholly innocent civilians who posed no threat to anyone, were killed in the most bestial manner imaginable.
